Sarva Shiksha Abhiyaan

Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan is an effort to universalise elementary education by community-ownership of the school system. A holistic and convergent approach and step in which resources facilitate a time bound achievement of universal Elementary Education in India, which is a constitutional mandate. Now notification of the right to children to free & compulsory education (RTE) Act' 2009 has taken place.

National Programme for Education of Girls at Elementray Level (NPEGEL)

Due to limited financial provisions for girl's education is the form of innovations at district level and free textbooks, need has been felt for an additional component for education of girls at elementary level. Hence NPEGEL has been launched as a programme to be implemented for providing elementary education to girls. It is a part of SSA to be implemented under the umbrella of SSA but it will have a distinct identity.

Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalaya

The Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalaya (KGBV) scheme was launched by the Government of India in August, 2004 for setting up residential schools at upper primary level for girls belonging predominantly to the SC, ST, OBC and minorities in difficult areas. The scheme of the KGBV ran as a separate scheme but in harmony with the Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA), National Programme for Education of Girls at Elementary Level (NPEGEL)
